Solomon, one of the Kings of ancient Israel said in Ecclesiastes 1:9, “What has been will be again, and what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” This holds true in all generations, especially these last days where satan is making concerted efforts to take as many people as he can to the lake of fire with him.

In ancient Israel, he tried to mimic the operations of the Holy Spirit through false prophets just as he is doing in our times. Activities of these charlatans were so pronounced in Israel that God had to address their false visions and dreams through three prophets, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and Zechariah.

In Jeremiah 14:14, the LORD said, “These prophets utter lies in My name: I did not send them; I gave them no command, nor did I speak to them. They prophesy to you lying visions, foolish divination, deceptions from their own imaginations.” In verse 28 of chapter 23, God thundered, “Let the prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream, and he that hath My word, let him speak My word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD.” In  other words, God compared false dreams and visions to chaff, which is virtually worthless, compared to His word which is of eternal value.

I saw how worthless dreams and visions of some so-called men of God were during the American Presidential election of 2020; and that of Nigeria held in 2023. In fact, 99% of the prophecies concerning both polls, based on visions and dreams of these ‘Prophets and Apostles’, did not come to pass. Some of them like Kat Ker, the American lady who claims to be a regular visitor in heaven tried to impute that God’s will was frustrated by mere men. How is that possible?

Is she referring to the same sovereign LORD to whom Isaiah the prophet said in Isaiah 14:27, “For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and His hand is stretched out, and who will turn it back?” God Himself declared in Isaiah 43:13, “Even from eternity I am He, and none can deliver out My hand. When I act, who can reverse it?”

The reason these charlatans are having so much success selling their snake oil is because many believers do not read the Bible for themselves through the instrumentality of the Holy Spirit. I do not despise the five-fold offices of Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers, but we must remember that the Holy Spirit was sent to indwell each and every believer. He did not fall on the ‘church’ on the day of Pentecost.

Each believer received the Holy Spirit! When we yield to His leading, He leads us into all truth as the Lord Jesus Christ indicated in John 16:13. When a believer rejects the ministry of the Holy Spirit in favour of the lordship of his Pastor, General Overseer, Prophet of Apostle, that person has opened the door to another spirit to operate in him or her. We are not called to be followers of any other person except Jesus Christ. Even Paul the apostle told the Corinthians believers “Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.”

false vision

If your Pastor comes up with dreams and visions that contradict Scriptures, is he a follower of Jesus Christ? Remember that the Lord said in Mathew “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law and the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfil.” My candid advice to everyone reading this piece is make the word of God in its entirety (both Old and New Testament) your safety net.

Find time to read the Bible to equip yourself against the onslaught of satan through deceptions of every form. False dreams and visions are among the weapons in the devil’s arsenal against humanity, especially Christians. Study the Bible not just to equip yourself for service if you are in ministry, but also to filter the lies of the enemy through so-called men of God. Do not forget that you alone will face God on the day of judgement. You will not be able to blame anyone for leading you astray because there would be no remedy for your folly. Be wise!
