Counterfeit Angelic Ministry

 Counterfeit angelic ministry has become one of satan’s strategy to deceive gullible people in his quest to increase the population of the lake of fire. I first encountered this ministry of error in several books written by some American Christians who claimed to have visited heaven. One of them, Kat Kerr even drew pictures of beings she claimed were God’s angels. In the aftermath of the disputed 2020 American Presidential election, she claimed that God had assigned her one billion angels for an undisclosed assignment in the country. I confess that I was one of the millions of people who believed that this woman spoke for God. Her portrayal of heaven was so real and enthralling that death was no longer a frightening prospect. When Trump was not re-elected according to her prophesy, I was devastated. This was not because of my great love for the former President, but because God Himself later showed me that, she is a false prophet.

       It was then I began to pay attention to other claims made by the so-called Seer. When she disclosed that God had given her authority over one billion angels sent to America, I began to ask questions. Why would God deploy one billion angels to a nation of barely 350 million people? When the king of Assyria, Sennacherib insulted God, only one angel killed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers. Even the being known as satan or Lucifer would be arrested and jailed by just one angel! (Revelation 20: 1-3). These and other probing questions led me to several Scriptures that conclusively proved that Kat Kerr was an agent of Satan.

        I thought I had heard the last of this kind of false gospel until something nasty happened to me in October 2022 that made me vulnerable to satan’s lies, howbeit unwittingly. I had a demonic attack that targeted my physical health, prompting me to send an SOS to a Christian sister that I enjoy a warm relationship with. Out of concern, she introduced me to a Christian brother she thought was walking with the Lord, with the expectation that he would help to address the issue. After meeting with the brother, we agreed that we needed to visit my village for prayers. After returning from the village, I attended a fellowship held at the brother’s residence. I was shocked when he asserted that believers are ‘gods’ and that we have the authority to activate angels to serve us. When I pointed out his errors from Scriptures, he still held on to them and I had to run for dear life.

         This encounter prompted me to research into how the enemy has penetrated the church with this counterfeit angelic ministry. I found out that several denominations, including the popular Bethel Ministry in the United States of America are promoting the ministry of angels that is unbiblical. A similar situation subsists in my country Nigeria, especially among charlatans who give themselves the exalted title of ‘Apostles’.

        Why are humans so susceptible to deception? From my own experience, I would say that the critical issue is Biblical ignorance among professing Christians. When I recovered from the Kat Kerr hypnosis, I became aware of the need to feed on the unadulterated word of God. In fact, the Holy Spirit has impressed on me that the only antidote to deception is to hide myself in the word of God.

Now, what does the Scripture say about angels? In all the instances where they appeared in the Bible, the word “sent” was the common denominator. In Numbers 20:16, Moses spoke of when the children of Israel “cried out to the LORD, He heard our cry, and sent an angel, and brought us out of Egypt.” The Israelites did not command an angel to come to them. They appealed to God, under whose command the angels function.

         In Daniel 3:17-18, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego refused to bow down to Nebuchadnezzar’s image, and the king ordered his men to cast them into the lake of fire. God in His mercy “sent His angel and rescued His servants (Daniel 3:28). The three Hebrew young men did not summon the angel of the LORD. God sent him. When Daniel was thrown into the lions’ den, God also “sent His angel” to deliver him.          In Acts 12:5, the church in Jerusalem prayed for Peter when he was in prison. When God delivered Peter, he testified, “Now I know without a doubt that the Lord sent His angel and rescued me from Herod’s clutches and from everything the Jewish people were anticipating.” (Acts 12:11). The believers praying for Peter were so surprised when he came to their door that they almost did not let him into the house. Certainly, they had not commanded any angel to rescue him. Even the Lord Jesus Christ while going through His travails on the way to the cross said in Mathew 26:53, “Or thinkest thou that I cannot beseech My Father, and He shall even now send Me more than twelve legions of angels.”

It is instructive that Jesus Himself recognised the fact that angels are under the Father’s authority. So, why are some of us allowing ourselves to be deceived by satan and his agents that we can command angels to do our bidding? For the avoidance of doubt, angels are called God’s holy angels, who do His bidding, not ours (Mark 8:38; Revelation 14:10). We are told in Hebrews 1:14 that “angels are ministering spirits SENT to serve those who will inherit salvation.” If you havebeen deceived into ‘activating angels (demons), I implore you to ask God for forgiveness and order these unclean spirits to leave you immediately.Also, ask the LORD to cleanse you from every unrighteousness resulting from this pollution according to 1 John 1:9.
