- Dealing with Demonic Bloodline ...

Deliverance from demonic oppression or possession is one of the most controversial subject in the modern church. Opposition to the practice is mostly inspired by some people’s interpretation of 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.” However, Christians opposed to deliverance do not have an answer to the pains of those experiencing spiritual attacks. I remember my experience with a fundamentalist church in Lagos, Nigeria where I sought help with the trauma I was going through after encountering the living Jesus. I was experiencing relentless attacks from serpentine spirits linked with my dark family background at this time.
When I raised my issue at the prayer meeting held by the church, the ‘pastor’ gloatingly said, “This is why I ask you people to give your life to Christ. Satan cannot touch you once you give your life to Christ.” I was shocked by this brother’s lack of empathy and insensitiveness to my plight. In fact, I cried throughout that night. Even elementary logic is enough to prove that satan would not waste his time and resources attacking those already in his pocket. So, the idea that I was being mauled because I hadn’t given my life to Christ was absurd in the extreme. There are many churches like these across the world; and they have served the purposes of satan by pushing people who need spiritual deliverance to quacks or other religions in their quest to be free.
If my own experience is anything to go by, I believe that what a Christian needs for his freedom is knowledge imparted by the Holy Spirit. Hosea 4:6 and Isaiah 5:13 declare, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” I am therefore using this medium to share with our readers some of the things they need to repent of; to open themselves up to the cleansing work of the Holy Spirit. These are not exhaustive by any means. We must be continuously open to the leading of the Holy Spirit who has the authority to purge us of all demonic pollutions.
It is important to note that the term, ‘demonic bloodlines’ is similar to ‘generational curses.’ The reason is simple. Demonic influence in a family brings about curses. It is recommended that our readers start the process with repentance for the following sins that may have affected generational bloodlines:
- Blood Sacrifices;
- Trading with human beings;
- Sexual sins (prostitution, incest, masturbation, homosexuality, lesbianism, fornication, adultery, sex with animals etc);
- Making offerings to Molech through abortions;
- Witchcraft;
- Involvement in occult practices
- Involvement in astrology
- Engaging in divination;
- Promoting the doctrines or teachings of false religions;
- Cursing mother and father;
- Using menstrual blood for sacrifice;
- Harbouring familiar spirits;
- Covenant with death;
- Believing the lies of satan;
- Not honouring God and His word; and
- Adding or subtracting from Scriptures.
As noted earlier, this is not an exhaustive list. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in the process. You may wish to discuss this further with matured Christians that have spiritual discernment in this direction. They should be able to stand with you in prayer as you engage in this battle, which could be intense, depending on the nature of demonic infestation your family has been exposed to over the centuries. After repenting of each sin, command the demons associated with them to leave you in Jesus name. Thereafter, break any link between you and them in the spiritual, emotional and physical realms. Also, stand on the authority of Colossians 2:13-14 to break any curse associated with the repented sins. This Scripture says, “And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcission of your flesh, hath He quickened together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross.” Another Scripture that is also relevant in dealing with the pollution of bloodlines is 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He (God) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Remind the Father of His promise in this regards since according to the Lord Jesus Christ, “The Scripture cannot be broken” (John 10:35). That is a powerful statement from the Son of God Himself and a proof that the word of God cannot be rendered redundant or invalidated.
Before you embark on this process, ensure that you have surrendered your life to Christ and have yielded to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Do not attempt to submit yourself to spiritual deliverance if you still desire to harbour sin, which is the nature of satan. We conclude this piece with an insight given by the Lord Jesus Christ on the operations of demons. He said in Mathew 12:43-45, “When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.”
