God's Mercy

The idea that God’s mercy is infinite or inexhaustible is at the core of the Roman Catholic doctrine of Purgatory. According to the “Church”, this is a temporary state or place of purification for those who die in God’s grace but are not fully cleansed from their sin. It is a process of spiritual cleansing, a necessary step before entering heaven. In my opinion, this is the most blasphemous doctrine of the so-called “Mother Church. The blasphemy stems from the fact that the concept calls to question the efficacy of Jesus’ atonement and Scriptures that attest to God’s redemption plan right from Genesis 3:15.

Romans 6:10 is emphatic that Christ died for our sins once for all. The same message is conveyed in 1 Peter 3:18, “Christ suffered for our sins once for all time.” John 1:29 declared that Jesus was the Lamb of God that took away the sins of humanity. In Mathew 1, angel Gabriel told Mary that her son would be called Yeshua (Jesus), because He will save His people from their sins. Similarly, the writer of the book of Hebrews explained in chapter 7, verse 27 that Jesus sacrificed Himself for the sin of humanity once and for all. Hebrews 9:12 caps it up for those who love the truth: “He did not enter by the blood of goats and calves, but He entered the Most Holy Place once for all by His own blood, thus securing eternal redemption for us.”

The concepts of eternal grace and infinite mercy propagated by the Catholic Church and other denominations aligned with its doctrines are totally unscriptural. God’s mercy is renewed every morning according to Lamentations 3:22.

When Jeremiah wrote this verse, there were heathen nations that were not under the covering of this mercy as noted by Paul the apostle in Ephesians 2:3, “Once we were also ruled by the selfish desires of our bodies and minds. We had made God angry, and we were going to be punished like everyone else.”

Even the popular John 3:16 conveys three aspects of God’s nature – mercy, justice and judgment. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” God’s mercy is reflected in what He did – gave His Son. God’s justice found expression in the sacrifice of His Son and God’s judgment says, all who refuse to believe in His Son will perish.

Infinite Mercy of God

In fact, the Roman Catholic Church exploits its version of God’s mercy to stand against the preaching of the Gospel, because its leadership insists that all religions lead to God. In particular, late “Pope” Francis forbade his followers from preaching the Gospel of Christ at all. He was quoted as saying that no one will go to hell since the mercy of God covers all humanity. In essence, the Catholic Church not only calls Jesus Christ a liar, but the Father as well.

When Moses asked God to show him His glory, Almighty God passed before him and proclaimed of Himself, “The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and fourth generation.”

God gave another pen picture of Himself in Jeremiah 9:23-24, “Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth Me, that I am the LORD which exercise loving-kindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth; for in these things I delight.” In fact, Psalm 89:14 declares that justice and judgment are the habitation of God’s throne.

The New International Version of the Bible renders this Scripture thus: “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne.” How can God be just without judging evil? The Catholics and other heretics are preaching a different Gospel, a product from the heart of their own god! In effect, they call Jesus Christ a liar for revealing God’s intention to send all who follow satan to the lake of fire. They also cast doubts on all Scriptures that speak about impending judgment of God at the end of time. I challenge these impostors to delete the following Scriptures from their Bibles:

  1. Proverbs 16:4, “The LORD has made everything for its own purpose, even the wicked for the day of evil.”
  2. Psalm 145:20, “The LORD keeps all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy.”
  3. Psalm 9:5, “You have rebuked the nations, You have destroyed the wicked; You have blotted out their names forever and ever.”
  4. Ezekiel 3:18, “When I say to the wicked, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn him or speak out to warn the wicked from his wicked way that he may live, that wicked shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand.”
  5. Psalm 37:28, “For the LORD loves justice and does not forsake His godly ones; they are preserved forever, but the descendants of the wicked will be cut off.”
  6. Psalm 37:38, “But transgressors will be altogether destroyed; the posterity of the wicked will be cut off.”
  7. Malachi 4:3, “You will tread down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day which I am preparing, says the LORD of hosts.”
  8. Job 36:6, “He does not keep the wicked alive, but gives justice to the afflicted.”
  9. Psalm 92:7, “That when the wicked sprouted up like grass and all who did iniquity flourished, it was only that they might be destroyed.”
  10. Matthew 7:23, “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.”
  11. Matthew 13:41, “The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness.”
  12. Matthew 25:41, “Then He will say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.”
  13. 1 Peter 3:12, “For the eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous, and His ears attend to their prayer, but the face of the LORD is against those who do evil.”
  14. 2 Peter 2:9, “The LORD knows how to rescue the godly from temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgement.”
  15. Acts 17:30-31, “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men everywhere to repent: Because He hath appointed a day, in the which He will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom He hath ordained, whereof He hath given assurance unto all men, in that He hath raised Him from the dead.”
  16. 2 Peter 3:7, “But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly people.”
  17. Revelation 22:14-15, “Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.”
  18. Revelation 19:11, “And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and He that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He doth judge and make war.”
  19. Revelation 19:20, “And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.”
  20. Revelation 20:11-15, “And I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God, and the books were opened, and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them, and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”

Some Christians have chosen to outsource their thinking and reasoning faculties to so-called men of God. None of them will defend you on judgment day. Everyone will speak for himself. I plead with you in the name of God to make His word your safety net in this time of great deception. Many people have established their own churches to preach their own version of the Gospel.

There is only One Church endorsed by Almighty God – the one that is the body of His Son Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit administers the true Church and the WORD of God is its only creed. Those who feed on anything contrary to Scripture will find themselves in the lake of fire with the devil. This is not a threat. You owe yourself a duty to choose the TRUTH today.
