Importance of Family Fun Times: One of the rhymes we learnt during the early teenage years was “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” As an adult, I see how true this is among many people who have pushed fun of any kind out of their lives. Some of them are religious zealots with chips on their shoulders fuelled by their ‘holier-than-thou’ disposition.

There is nothing wrong in having the right kind of fun, whether alone or in a family setting. God created us to enjoy His handiwork. In fact, one of the fruits of the Spirit is joy. How can we be joyful when we have the mind-set that God wants us to look morose all the time, possibly as a sign of sobriety or holiness? That is far from the truth. The Lord Jesus Christ who came to reveal God to humans was not a carrier of heavy spirit, otherwise, He would not have attracted large crowds wherever He went.
