Is Scripture Entertainment Material? While preparing for this article, I did some research online using Google’s Artificial Intelligence. I posted a question on Google search to find out why “Christians” are using Holy Scriptures as materials for entertainment. The answer I received from AI Overview is that the Bible contains stories and other information that could be used for entertainment purposes.

When I posed the same question regarding the Koran, the same AI responded that the Muslim book cannot be used for entertainment purposes because followers of Mohammed believe that the Koran is the word of God. Interesting perspective. A book purportedly written by an angel is revered, but the immutable written Word of the Living God is not.

        So, who is to blame? The “Christians” who insult God by using holy Scripture as materials for entertainment or the people of the world who patronise them? I am 100% sure that no genuine child of God can use any Scripture as entertainment material. 2 Timothy 3:16 states: “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives.

It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” The King James Version states: “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”

It looks like the Holy Spirit who inspired Paul the apostle to write this verse did not realise that believers needed to be entertained to grow into a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:13). The irreverence being shown to Scripture by people who claim to be followers of Christ is a manifestation of the unholy alliance between institutional churches and the world.

The enemy has not only captured these churches, but is standing in pulpits preaching his perverted gospel, to the delight of carnal “Christians.” How can you call yourself a follower of Jesus Christ and accept the use of Scripture for unholy purposes? Did Jesus, your Lord and Saviour treat Scripture with levity? Isaiah 42:21 said of Him, “The LORD is well pleased for His righteousness’ sake; He will magnify the law, and make it honourable.”

I know some Pharisees and Sadducees will contest the use of the word “law” in the cited Scripture. If these “wise folks” bother to read Psalm 119, they will notice that “law” is used interchangeably with the word of God there. In fact, Jesus Christ magnified the word of God by fulfilling the law on our behalf. He said in John 17:17, “Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.”

How can we say we reverence Almighty God, yet treat His word with levity? Can any of us use letters written to us by our parents as entertainment material? Can we make jest of the things said to us by our parents? How dare we see people doing this to Almighty God and not be outraged?

The word of God is so precious to Him that He said in Psalm 89:34 that He will not edit any of it. We are also told in Psalm 138:2 that God magnifies (exalts) His word more than His great name. This can only make sense when we realise who the Word is. Revelation 19:13 identifies Jesus Christ as the WORD OF GOD. John 1:14 explains that the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. If Almighty God exalts His Son, the Word, who are we to make Him an object of scorn in the name of comedy?

 I do not want to overlabour myself stressing the importance of having a healthy fear for God. Psalm 19:9 declares that the fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. We can never become so close or intimate with Him to the extent that we treat Him as our equal. Even angels who have spent ion years with the LORD are so awed by His glory that they cover their faces when they behold Him (Isaiah 6:2). If you are one of those engaging in the demonic practice of using Scripture for entertainment purposes or patronising those who do so, I urge you in your own interest to repent of the grievous sin today.
