Potpourri: God’s love is the focus of our potpourri segment for the month. To understand the depth of His love for humans, we must go back to creation story in chapters 1 and 2 of the book of Genesis. Why did He create all the stuff from day one to day 5? Does He live on earth, which is a physical realm? Many of us have entertained people in our homes.
When we actually expect our visitors, we go out of our way to prepare entertainment for them before their arrival. That was exactly what the LORD did for us. He prepared everything He knew we would love, before creating us in His image.
What was the motivation for this? Genesis 1:26 answers the question for us: “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness, to rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, and over all the earth itself and over every creature that crawls upon it.”
Briefly, the Father created us as an object of His love. He wanted to have a love relationship with us. That was why He regularly came down to the Garden of Eden to have communion with Adam and his wife, Eve. John 3:16 encapsulates the depth of this love:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. As you go through the compilation, we pray that you would encounter the Father’s love for you and reciprocate it by surrendering your life to Him.
