Potpourri: In this edition, we present quotes on God’s holiness. Some months ago, I heard an American pastor tell his congregation in a message posted on YouTube, that God does not expect them to be sinless (holy), but to sin less. This blasphemous statement shocked me to my marrows and I shared it with a group of believers on Discord, another social media platform. To my surprise, many of them supported the pastor!
How could the same God, who all through the book of Leviticus charged Israelites to be holy because He is holy, now come to the New Testament and say that holiness, which is His nature, no longer mattered to Him? As a matter of fact, 1 Peter 1:16 quotes one of the Scriptures in Leviticus, “But as He which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; because it is written, ‘Be ye holy; for I am holy.” Hebrews 12:14 is emphatic that no man can see the LORD without holiness!
