Potpourri – God’s mercy is an attribute that sets Him apart from His creation. It flows from His compassion towards humanity, based on His appreciation of our weaknesses. Lamentations chapter 3, verse 21 explains, “It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are renewed every morning.” There is however, an assumption among certain institutional churches, especially the Roman Catholic Church that God’s mercy is inexhaustible.
This explained the claims by late Pope Francis that no human would be in hell fire, and that all religions, including paganism lead to God. In fact, he equally affirmed that even atheists would be accepted into heaven. The truth has never been a strong point of religionists and the written word of God in the Holy Bible debunks these lies.
Anyone who claims that the mercy of God is inexhaustible in the sense that there would be no judgment for sin as stated severally in Scripture is an agent of satan. That person is actually calling God a liar because 1 Timothy declares that all Scripture was written by men under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Even the Son of God spoke extensively about hell.
To the Catholic Church, and other religions who have created their own god, what should we do with the book of Isaiah, Daniel, Psalms and Revelation, among others that clearly unveil the nature of God’s wrath on an unbelieving world in the end time? What becomes of John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” This Scripture presents the mercy and wrath of God. Mercy is available to those who accept the atoning sacrifice of Christ, while those who reject it perish. Period! Enjoy the compilation!
